ASCO Construction successfully managed the delivery of the Inglewood Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade for the Region of Peel — a technically complex infrastructure project completed in April 2025 with a final value of $9.2 million. Delivered in collaboration with consultant CIMA+, the project significantly enhanced the plant’s treatment capacity, operational resilience, and regulatory compliance. The scope included construction of a new tertiary treatment building, pumping station, screen room, and backup generator. A new Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) tank was installed, and existing tanks were retrofitted to optimize biological treatment. Specialized process systems, including tertiary disk filters and a UV disinfection system, were integrated to meet stringent effluent quality standards. The work also involved deep excavation, dewatering, and caisson installation to support new infrastructure on a challenging site.
The upgraded facility now delivers a rated average day flow of 243 m³/day and a peak flow of 1,118 m³/day. Key features include a new influent pumping station, dual mechanical screens, three SBR trains with anoxic chambers, two tertiary disk filtration units, and UV disinfection. ASCO coordinated the work of multiple trades and equipment suppliers while maintaining continuous plant operations throughout construction. The project concluded with a successful commissioning phase, with all systems fully tested, validated, and brought online to meet both performance expectations and regulatory requirements.
Delivering this upgrade within an operational wastewater treatment facility required careful logistical planning and stakeholder coordination. Limited site access, live plant operations, and neighboring property considerations added complexity to execution. ASCO worked closely with the Region of Peel, CIMA+, plant operators, and regulatory agencies to manage phased construction and ensure a seamless transition into commissioning. Despite schedule extensions related to additional programming and approved change orders, the project was completed on time and within the revised budget. ASCO’s focused project management, collaborative approach, and commitment to quality were instrumental in the successful delivery of this essential municipal infrastructure upgrade.
