ASCO successfully delivered this $5.7M expansion of the Hawkesbury Water Pollution Control Plant. Construction began in December 2004 and continued through winter conditions, reaching completion in March 2006.

The project included the construction of new equalization tanks, a sewage bypass diversion chamber and sewer, a new pump room, and a new disinfection building. In addition, upgrades were completed to the existing raw sewage pumping station, including mechanical and electrical systems, process controls, and instrumentation.

Due to the plant’s proximity to the Ottawa River and the presence of a rock anchor system, an extensive dewatering program was required during construction of the concrete tanks. All work was carried out while maintaining continuous plant operations, requiring careful coordination, particularly during the replacement of critical components such as pumps, electrical systems, and controls.

A detailed commissioning process ensured a smooth transition to the upgraded systems without disruption.
