ASCO constructed this 20,000 megalitre water storage reservoir to support peak domestic demand and fire protection for the Towns of Milton and Halton Hills.
The project included a two-cell reinforced concrete in-ground reservoir, a valve house, and an access building with stairways into each chamber. Approximately 800 metres of 900 mm diameter feeder main was also constructed to connect the reservoir to the distribution system.
A delayed project start required acceleration of concrete works. ASCO adjusted construction methods by increasing pour sizes, modifying formwork systems, and extending working hours. High-quality concrete work, combined with the use of Xypex® additives, ensured structural integrity and minimized cracking, allowing early backfilling prior to leak testing.
