SĂ©guin Racine & Associates
Designed by Sebastien Racine of Seguin Racine & Associates, ASCO was the General Contractor for this new, 13,000 square foot library constructed adjacent to an existing school complex during the school year. Safety and coordination with the existing in-use school facilities were ASCO's primary concerns. The unique architecture seamlessly blends with other expansion work completed by ASCO the previous year.
The challenge this project provided was that its foundation and wall construction were designed to be constructed with insulated forms for 7.6-meter-high walls, used in conjunction with masonry bearing walls, which provided the support for the completion of the building envelope. Careful planning, along with the right trade selected to perform this rare type of construction, was key. The project was successfully completed in time for the start of the 2007 school year.
