ASCO successfully tendered the $29,572,400 construction of the Hawkesbury Wastewater
Treatment Plant Upgrades. Construction commenced in 2011, continued through winter conditions, and was completed in February 2014. The work consisted of constructing and commissioning all appurtenances required to upgrade Hawkesbury's existing Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) and Raw Sewage Pumping Station (RSPS), including:
- A new Sludge Handling and Dewatering Building and ATAD Sludge Treatment Facility;
- A new Headworks Building;
- A new UV Effluent Pump Building;
- Conversion of the existing Aerobic Digesters to Primary Clarifiers;
- Conversion of the existing Aeration Tanks to an IFAS system;
- Temporary Bypass pumping and groundwater control in difficult soils conditions;
- All related mechanical processes, electrical, structural, architectural, and site work.
ASCO also completed miscellaneous extensions and relocations of sewers, watermains, mechanical, and electrical services to the new buildings and executed the demolition of the existing Operations Building, Effluent Pumping Building, and Chlorine Contact Chambers upon completion of the new facility. All of this was achieved without interruption to the fully operational plant.
